p-Anisic Acid Use Level: 0.05-0.3% and at pH of between 4.5-5.5. Add to the water phase and heat to around 80C to fully dissolve the powder. Pre Dissolving with Glycerine can also help ensure that the acid is solubilised. General Information: P anisic acid is a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient that can aid in odour masking and product preservation. It is suitable for both rinse-off and leave-on cosmetic products and is effective at a low level. Anti-microbially tests have found it to have a broad spectrulm activity with particular efficacy against mould. However, in order to get the best results most formulations will require a second preservative to boost efficacy, especially where the free water levels are high. It is also worth noting that p-anisic acid will not work at pH above 5.5. Formulating Tip: This ingredient works really well with the glyceryl caprylate to give broad-spectrum protection. Group: Preservatives. CAS No. 100-09-4. Pack Sizes: 15g, 100g, 500g, 1Kg, 5Kg, 20Kg, and above upon request. Product ID: RMPANISIACID. EINECS: 202-818-5. New Directions Australia

Phenoxyethanol Features: - Non-formaldehyde-releasing preservative. suitable for a wide pH range. - Offers good head-space protection. - Suitable for leave-on and rinse-off products. - Stable to hydrolysis so can be used in high temperature mixtures up to 80C. - Globally Approved. - Broad Spectrum Action - Bacteria, Yeast and Mould. Caution: Phenoxyethanol is a slow acting preservative and can take up to 48 hours to become fully effective in a formula. During that time a high-risk formulation may have enough time to overwhelm the product rendering the phenoxyethanol useless. High risk formulations are those that have a high water content and that may or may not also contain colours, herbal extracts, biological material (peptides, milk etc), exfoliant particles, clays and muds. In high risk formulations we recommend blending the phenoxyethanol with a second, faster-acting preservative such as Piroctone Olamine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Potassium Sorbate and Sorbic Acid or an alternative. In terms of what would make the optimal blend, the only way to answer that is with testing. All we can offer is the information on maximum and typical use rates, pH stability and solubility. Group: Preservatives. CAS No. 122-99-6. Pack Sizes: 100g, 500g, 1Kg, 5Kg, 20Kg, and above upong request. Product ID: RMPVAPHEN. EINECS: 204-589-7. New Directions Australia
