Almond Sweet Virgin Oil Certified Organic - ACO 10282P Sweet Almond is an excellent emollient and is known for its ability to soften and re-condition the skin. The oil has long been a popular base for massage and body care but massage therapists should note that straight vegetable oils such as this can stain sheets. Botanical name: Prunus dulcis. Extraction method: Cold pressed. Common uses: As an emollient in general skincare, As a carrier oil for Aromatherapy and as a massage oil formulation base. Quality: This is classified as a Virgin oil which is a term designed by the food industry as a measure of quality. While it isn't necessarily as relevant for cosmetic use, some brands prefer purchasing virgin quality oils where possible. Consistency: Typical and characteristic of carrier oils. Absorption: Absorbs into skin at average speed, slight oil feeling left on skin. Caution: Being a nut oil, there is always the potential for this ingredient to trigger allergies in sensitive people. Group: Certified organic vegetable oils. Alternative Names: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil *. EINECS: 616-913-8. CAS No. 8007-69-0. Aloe Vera [200:1] Powder - Fruit & Herbal Powder Extracts (Bulk) This is a 200:1 powdered aloe which means that to re-constitute it so that it is a single strength Aloe Liquid you need to add only 0.5g of Aloe Powder to 99.5g of Water (0.5% to 99.5%). The Aloe Powder will completely dissolve into water but will not form a gel. This is because the pulverising and powder processing breaks up the complex sugar chains into smaller chain lengths that can no longer form a gel. This does not impact in the performance of the Aloe in your product though as the minerals and moisturising properties remain. To thicken your Aloe Water we recommend adding something like Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose or Carbomer. These thickeners will swell in water to form a gel-like base that can then be used as a facial serum base or just as a soothing Aloe Gel. Otherwise we do sell a ready-made aloe gel. In addition to thickning the Aloe Water the water will also need preserving. We have a range of preservatives available to suit a wide range of ingredient philosophies and product asperations. Use Level: Typically re-constituted at 0.5% in water but can be used at any level between 0.05-5%. Solubility: Fully water soluble with no residue. Forms a colourless, water-thin solution when re-hydrated. Compatibility: Generally compatible with most other actives, can be too salty for some emulsions and can cause creams to become destabilised in some cases. We do recommend stability testing when replacing regular water for reconstituted aloe water in a formula. Please Note: These products are for cosmetic use only and not to be consumed. Group: Extracts. Alternative Names: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Aqua. EINECS: 287-390-8, 231-791-2. CAS No. 85507-69-3, 7732-18-5. Caffeine Anhydrous BP/USP (Bulk) WARNING: Concentrated caffeine powder should be stored well away from food preparation areas to avoid accidental ingestion. Ingestion of caffeine powder can cause heart failure. Our Caffeine powder is a synthetic caffeine of high purity for cosmetic use. Solubility: Water soluble. Appearance: white powder. Benefits: It boosts cellular energy. Is able to penetrate the skin. It may assist in removing damaged skin. Recommendations: It may be useful in anti-ageing and slimming. Applications: There have been various studies looking at caffeine in skin care using doses up to 5% but we recommend using between 0.1-0.5% in topical products due to the fact that high levels of caffeine can have a dehydrating effect on the skin and as such any benefits from using the caffeine may start to be lost. Notes on dermal penetration: Caffeine can penetrate the skin and clinical trials commonly record penetration into the blood stream of between 2-10% of the applied dose. How much caffeine is absorbed depends on the base formula, the dose you use and the site you apply it to. Follicular delivery is effective and is why many people add Caffeine to hair care formulations.. Group: Active. Alternative Names: Caffeine. EINECS: 200-362-1. CAS No. 58-08-2. Pack Sizes: 1.5kg. Product ID: RMAACAFFANHY. Cautions: Not to be used in products for children. Be cautious when using during pregnancy. Caffeine levels should be monitored at this time and kept to within recommended guidelines. Dose Rate: 0.1-0.5. New Directions Australia

Coconut Refined Certified Organic Vegetable Oil - ACO 10282P Botanical Name: Cocos nucifera. Extraction Method: Cold Pressed. Quality: Our coconut oil is refined, bleached and deordorised (RBD) using physical, rather than chemical processes. While some brands prefer 'complete' oils, removing or reducing the odour and/or colour does give a higher level of aesthetic flexibility when formulating and also tends to further improve the stability of the oil. Description: Coconut oil switches between solid and liquid at room temperature (21-25C). The oil is used to lubricate the skin and condition the hair. Coconut is a preferred oil for high quality cold-process soapers as it is a 'hard' oil on account of its chemistry, being majority saturated fats which are also very stable. Color: White to Off White. Aromatic Description: This oil has been deodorised but it may still have a very slight coconut scent. Common Uses: Coconut is the preferred oil for both the soap making and cosmetic manufacturing industries. Consistency: Solid at room temperatures. Gentle heating is required. Absorption: Coconut creates an oily, protective barrier on the skin. Group: Certified organic vegetable oils. Alternative Names: Cocos Nucifera Oil *. EINECS: 232-282-8. CAS No. 8001-31-8. Pack Sizes: 17ml; 30ml; 100ml; 500ml; 1LT; 5Lt; 20Lt and above upon request. Product ID: OCOVCOCORBD. Cautions: Direct application to the face with Coconut should be avoided because of possible allergic reactions.Note: Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, however gentle heating will allow it to liquefy.Certification: Australian Certified Organic. Use Levels: 0.1-5%. Origin: Vegetable derived. pH Stability: Expected to be stable across a wide pH range. Heat Stability: Stable to the normal heat ranges experienced in cosmetic manufacturing. Davidsons Plum Powder - Australian Native Extract (Bulk) Davidson's Plum is a rainforest tree found in Queensland and Northern NSW that bears dark purple fruit with vibrant red flesh. This fruit is high in the anthocyanin group of anti-oxidants and polysaccharides which provide anti-ageing benefits and significant hydration for the skin. The phytochemicals in this extract are freeze dried after harvesting to maintain their efficacy and freshness. Botanical Name: Davidsona pruriens. Common Name: Davidson's Plum. Traditional Name: Ooray (Yirrganydji people of Northern Queensland who speak Djabugay language). Powdered Extract Strength: 10:1. Appearance: this is a dark purple powdered extract that has a high but incomplete solubility in water. This means that it is best to hydrate and filter this before adding it to your cosmetic product. Applications: Use as an active ingredient in skincare products. Particularly well suited for anti-ageing products. Usage Instructions: The powder is 10 times stronger than the fresh fruit so to make a re-constituted fruit juice you would need a mix of 10% powder into 90% demineralised water + preservative (for maintaining the freshness). The powder is highly water soluble but it is always a good idea to filter any extracts before using them in a finished product to remove any solids or un-dissolved powder. Group: Extracts. Alternative Names: Davidsonia Jerseyana Fruit Extract. EINECS: 920-206-2 [ECHA]. CAS No. 1174401-42-3. Pack Sizes: 15G; 100G; 500G; 1KG; 5KG and above upon request. Product ID: EXANDAVIPLUM. If you do make a reconstituted liquid as per above, we recommend using this in your product at anything from 1-50% of your formula. If you want to go ahead and add the powder directly to your formula you could use it at between 0.1-5% but do remember that it required moisture to rehydrate and so will not mix into an oil based product. It can be added dry to powdered clay masks or colour cosmetics if you wish. New Directions Australia

Mountain Pepper Berry Powder - Australian Native Extract (Bulk) The Mountain Pepper Berry has a high antioxidant capacity and anti-Inflammatory properties making it a great addition to products for sensitive skin. The berries are also a rich source of Vitamin E, Lutein and the trace minerals Zinc, Magnesium, and Calcium. Solubility: The berry particles infuse in water producing a dark brown fluid that requires filtering before use. Activity: 1:2 concentration which means the dried extract is twice as concentrated as the fresh berries. Use Levels: On a solids basis the berries can be used in a formula at levels ranging from 0.2-3%. Plantaserv C (Bulk) This preservative is chemically similar to our Plantaserv D but it has been produced using a slightly different process which allows it to be used in some certified organic formulations unlike the Plantaserv D. The certifying bodies that have approved this preservative are the OFC, COSMOS and Ecocert. Origin: Plant based. Heat Stability: Relatively good can be added into your product at temperatures up to 80C. Dose Rate: 4% is the maximum amount that can be used. 3-4% is a typical addition rate. pH range: 4.5-5.5 is ideal but we have had success with products that have pH ranges slightly outside of this (3-6). Always be sure to run Preservative Efficacy Testing before settling on your formulation. Microbes Targeted: Broad-Spectrum (Bacteria, Yeast and Mould). Like many natural preservatives, this is slower to act than some of our synthetic options and as such could become overwhelmed in more challenging environments when used as the stand-alone preservative. We recommend an evidence-based approach to optimising your product's preservation strategy and as such advise undertaking stability and micro testing to inform your formulating decisions in this area. Group: Preservatives. Alternative Names: Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate. EINECS: 200-289-5, 231-791-2, 243-378-4, 208-634-1. CAS No. 56-81-5, 7732-18-5, 19856-23-6, 536-45-8. Pack Sizes: 100G; 500G; 1KG; 5KG; 20KG and above upon request. Product ID: RMPVAC. Our Preservative Master Data Sheet available at the top of this section showcases this preservative vs others that we have on offer allowing you to compare features and work out what is best for your needs. The only way that anyone can know if a particular preservative is working in your formula is to run tests and we recommend the Preservative Efficacy Test to give you this data. Preservative Efficacy Testing is quite expensive but it will enable you to fulfil your requirements of placing safe cosmetics onto the market. New Directions Australia

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (Bulk) Form: Powder/Flake. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is an anionic surfactant derived from coconut fatty acid and sustainable palm that are used in many cosmetic and personal care products. In particular, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is used in the preparation of skin cleansing products such as soaps and washes as well as in shampoos and other hair cleansing products. By helping water to mix with oil and dirt, this surfactant is great at rinsing dirt away from the skin and hair leaving both feeling fresh and clean. Activity Level: Minimum of 85% surfactant solids with up to 15% free fatty acids and some residual water. Material Origin: A reaction between Coconut Fatty Acid and Sodium Isethionate. Sodium Isethinonate is created via a reaction between Sodium Hydroxide (lye), Sodium Bisulfide and Ethylene Oxide. It is made from sustainable palm oil. Applications: Use in skin and hair cleansing preparations. Use Levels: Up to 53% as supplied in rinse off formulations and up to 17% in leave-on. How to use: As this is a dry surfactant it can be blended into a dry formulation such as a dry shampoo, bath bomb, powdered facial cleanser or equivalent or can be added to the water phase of a standard, water based cleansing product (shampoo, shaving product, cleanser etc). Caution: This ingredient has quite a low water solubility so it is far better placed in a creamy shampoo base rather than clear. It is also really well suited to shaving creams, creamy cleansers and other emulsified cleansing solutions. Group: Surfactants. Alternative Names: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Coconut Acid,Sodium Isethionate,Aqua. EINECS: 263-052-5, 262-978-7,216-343-6,231-791-2. CAS No. 61789-32-0, 61788-47-4,1562-00-1,7732-18-5. Urea (Bulk) Urea has long been used in skincare for its unique combination of keratolytic and powerful hydrating properties. This keratolytic (exfoliating) property can be used in cosmetics to help with the rapid turnover of skin cells leading to the improvement of dry and scaly skin. Urea is also part of your skin's "Natural Moisturising Factor" (NMF). The NMF being composed of Lactic Acid and Lactate Salts (usually Sodium Lactate), Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid (PCA), Urea, Metal Ions, Sugars and Amino Acids. This makes urea both a humectant and moisturizer that promotes rehydration of the skin and helps to replenish natural moisture content of the skin. On top of this, it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent on skin that may have a damaged barrier function. Numerous studies have proven the benefits of this ingredient in treating dry, damaged and irritated skin. Ideal for use In: Creams and lotions for dry skin. After-sun products. Shampoos and body washes. Body scrubs. Cracked heal and elbow moisturizers. Hand and foot creams. Formulation Guidelines: Add to the water phase of formulations. Not heat sensitive. Can be disruptive to many emulsification and thickening systems. We recommend trialling use of urea in small batches to avoid wasting raw materials. Group: Active. Alternative Names: Urea. EINECS: 200-315-5. CAS No. 57-13-6. Pack Sizes: 100G; 500G; 1KG; 5KG; 20KG and above upon request. Product ID: RMAAUREA. Material Origin: Synthetic. Recommended Usage: 2 - 15%Solubility: Water soluble, also partially soluble in ethanol and glycerineFormula Tips: Urea is very salty and can substantially compromise emulsion stability if the emulsion hasn't been designed with Urea in mind. If you are considering adding this to your formula start with low levels and split your batch into two, trying the urea in one half and not in the other so you can benchmark the changes that the addition of Urea has on your formula.
