| Calcium Chloride | Calcium chloride is commonly used to prevent ice formation and as a de-icer. This is particularly useful on road surfaces. It is also more effective at lower temperatures than sodium chloride. It also has uses in food applications, namely ice creams, beer production and cheeses. When distributed for this use, it usually takes the form of prills (small, white balls a few millimeters in diameter). Solutions of calcium chloride can prevent freezing at temperature as low as ?52??C (?62??F). As an ingredient, it is listed as a permitted food additive in the European Union for use as a sequestrant and firming agent with the E number E509, and considered as "Generally Recognized As Safe" (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. | Salicylic Acid (Bulk) | Salicylic Acid is a restricted active and can be dangeous or even toxic if used innappropriately. Some people have salicylate allergies and can react to products containing this chemistry. Information: This additive is used in skin-care products for treating acne and pimple-prone skin, as well as various skin problems, such as warts, corns, calluses and psoriasis. It is also commonly used in dandruff shampoos. This is because of the acid's ability to cause skin cells to slough off, facilitating new skin cell growth, unclogging pores and removing overgrown skin cells. Usage Instructions: A maximum level of 2% is permitted in adult formulations that are to be left on the skin and 3% as a max for rinse off products. The ingredient is not to be used in products targeting children under the age of three except as part of the preservative or shampoo. Formulating Tips: Salicylic acid can be very tricky to add into an emulsion formulation (A cream or lotion) as it is not that soluble in water or oils. One option is to neutralise it into sodium salicylate by reacting it with Sodium Hydroxide. This will fizz in water until the reaction is complete, the salt is just as effective for the skin as the acid but has less solubility issues. Otherwise you can try dispersing it beforehand into a suitable solvent. Propylene Glycol and glycerine can help as can adding what is known as a hydrotrope (to improve solubility). | Aloe Vera [200:1] Powder - Fruit & Herbal Powder Extracts (Bulk) | This is a 200:1 powdered aloe which means that to re-constitute it so that it is a single strength Aloe Liquid you need to add only 0.5g of Aloe Powder to 99.5g of Water (0.5% to 99.5%). The Aloe Powder will completely dissolve into water but will not form a gel. This is because the pulverising and powder processing breaks up the complex sugar chains into smaller chain lengths that can no longer form a gel. This does not impact in the performance of the Aloe in your product though as the minerals and moisturising properties remain. To thicken your Aloe Water we recommend adding something like Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose or Carbomer. These thickeners will swell in water to form a gel-like base that can then be used as a facial serum base or just as a soothing Aloe Gel. Otherwise we do sell a ready-made aloe gel. In addition to thickning the Aloe Water the water will also need preserving. We have a range of preservatives available to suit a wide range of ingredient philosophies and product asperations. Use Level: Typically re-constituted at 0.5% in water but can be used at any level between 0.05-5%. Solubility: Fully water soluble with no residue. Forms a colourless, water-thin solution when re-hydrated. Compatibility: Generally compatible with most other actives, can be too salty for some emulsions and can cause creams to become destabilised in some cases. | Glyceryl Stearate Citrate Emulsifying Wax (Bulk) | Use Levels: 0.5-4% as supplied. Origin: This is derived from Canola oil and Corn and is 100% palm free. The product is of European Origin. Chemistry: Anionic. Application: This emulsifier is anionic in nature and as such is a useful secondary emulsifier in a cream or lotion. It is not impossible that this could be used as the only emulsifier but in most cases it will need to be paired with a non-ionic emulsifier or gelling agent to allow a more stable emulsion to be formed. | Hyaluronic Acid 1% Liquid (Bulk) | Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body and generally decreases with age. In the skin it exists in the epidermis and keeps the skin hydrated and supple due to its high water retention ability. As we age our production naturally decreases and we begin to notice alterations in our skin such as wrinkling or dry skin. A product containing Hyaluronic Acid would be beneficial for mature or dry skin to help restore smoothness and elasticity of the skin. Please note that there are two main sources of Hyaluronic acid the first being animal extracted (from Rooster Combs typically) and the second being bacterial fermentation. Our material is from bacterial fermentation using glucose that is corn derived to create the hyaluronic acid in a biofermentation process. The product is still classified as natural and used in natural and organic cosmetic manufacturing. Our Liquid is at 1% active for ease of addition into your finished skin care as an alternative to the powder for ease of manufacturing - the powder can be difficult to hydrate as it tends to form clumps if it isn't mixed at high speed. Use between 1-100% of the ingredient to give a Hyaluronic acid content in your product of 0.01-1%. Hyaluronic acid is highly effective as a humectant (water binding agent) so it isn't necessary to use a high percentage if you don't want to. | Ridazon® | Ridazon ® is a selective pre and post-emergence herbicide providing a good residual activity against a wide range of annual broadleaf weeds and some annual grasses, with a contact action on a wide range of weeds up to the 2 leaf stage. | Urea (Bulk) | Urea has long been used in skincare for its unique combination of keratolytic and powerful hydrating properties. This keratolytic (exfoliating) property can be used in cosmetics to help with the rapid turnover of skin cells leading to the improvement of dry and scaly skin. Urea is also part of your skin's "Natural Moisturising Factor" (NMF). The NMF being composed of Lactic Acid and Lactate Salts (usually Sodium Lactate), Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid (PCA), Urea, Metal Ions, Sugars and Amino Acids. This makes urea both a humectant and moisturizer that promotes rehydration of the skin and helps to replenish natural moisture content of the skin. | Vitis® | Vitis ® is an insecticide for the control of Leafrollers on avocados and grapes. Vitis ® has translaminar activity but is not systemic, therefore thorough coverage is essential. After application, Vitis ® quickly moves into young leaves from where it is taken up by the feeding Leafrollers. Vitis ® takes about 4 days to achieve maximum control. Note: DO NOT apply if rainfall is expected before spray would have dried, as reduced efficacy may result. The addition of a non-ionic surfactant is required in all uses.
