| Green French Clay (Bulk) | A conditioning and nourishing clay for all skin types. Green French Clay is especially useful in formulas for sebum control. Great for face and body masks. Green French Clay has a mixed mineral origin: Kaolinite or kaolin clays can be coloured if the surrounding soil is rich in minerals. Some of these minerals have beneficial properties for the skin while others don't so much. All Kaolinites are reasonably good drawing agents as they pull toxins from the skin. Kaolin is often used as a base for clay masks due to it being well tolerated by most people. Illite is a mica type mineral occurring in argillaceous sediments with Illite being a general term for the clay minerals from this type of sediment. Argillaceous minerals appear ... smectite clay - smectite .... These clays are cationic and have a cationic exchange capacity due to the Magnesium and Aluminium in the structure. These clays swell in water and can be used to thicken and stabilise emulsions. This clay will swell a little in water. 100% natural mineral which is allowed to be used in COSMOS formulas. | Mountain Pepper Berry Powder - Australian Native Extract (Bulk) | The Mountain Pepper Berry has a high antioxidant capacity and anti-Inflammatory properties making it a great addition to products for sensitive skin. The berries are also a rich source of Vitamin E, Lutein and the trace minerals Zinc, Magnesium, and Calcium. Solubility: The berry particles infuse in water producing a dark brown fluid that requires filtering before use. The filtrate is slightly thickened due to the fiberous component of the extract which, in a cosmetic product acts as a source of hydration. Activity: 1:2 concentration which means the dried extract is twice as concentrated as the fresh berries. Use Levels: On a solids basis the berries can be used in a formula at levels ranging from 0.2-3%. If you prepare a water extraction (tincture) ahead of time you may put 20g of powder into 80g of water, leave to infuse and then filter. | Wattle Seed Powder - Australian Native Extract (Bulk) | Most Australians know that when the bush turns yellow with wattle blossom, winter is nearly over! There are close to 1000 species of wattle (Acacia) in Australia ranging from small shrubs to impressively large trees. It would be fair to say that this plant species actually holds Australia together as these are often the first plants to colonise an area, forming deep root systems that can withstand periods of drought and flooding rains. Wattle seeds have been harvested and utilised as both food and medicine sources by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations over the last 65,000 years. The seeds are a great protein, fibre and carbohydrate source as well as providing a wide range of micronutrients such as Magnesium, Iron, Zinc and Potassium. In terms of skin care, this super-seed has been used to soothe and calm irritated skin. There are many names for Wattle including Coojong, Panjang, Wilyawa (Noongar); Buhyigan, Gibay-Gibay, Jumaw and Jayi (Bundjalung); Garal, Yulumbang, Gidya, Giigandul (Wiradjuri) and Wadanjuli (Gadigal)... Preparing the extract for use: Add equal parts powder to water to create a concentrated active. Leave to steep in hot water before filtering and preserving (if you are making a stock solution to use at another time). The water will turn to a brown colour as the infusion progresses.
