| Potassium Ferricyanide | Potassium Ferricyanide is also known as red prussiate, prussian red or potassium hexacyanoferrate(III). It is a coordination compound that is stable at room temperature and pressure and forms ruby red crystals and powder. It is soluble in water and its solution shows some green-yellow fluorescence. The compound has widespread use in blueprint drawing and in photography. Iron and copper toning involve the use of potassium ferricyanide. Potassium ferricyanide is used as an oxidising agent to remove silver from negatives and positives, a process called dot etching. The compound is also used to temper iron and steel, in electroplating, dyeing wool, as a laboratory reagent, and as a mild oxidising agent in organic chemistry. Grades: Technical. | Sodium Ferrocyanide | Sodium Ferrocyanide is the sodium salt of the coordination compound of formula [Fe(CN)6]4-. It is a yellow crystalline solid that is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. Sodium ferrocyanide is a chemical food additive known as E535 in the EU. It is added to road and food grade salt as an anticaking agent. When combined with iron, it converts to a deep blue pigment called prussian blue. It is used as a stabilizer for the coating on welding rods.
